What to include
One screenshot answers most questions.
- A screenshot of Check setup. In your form, click the puzzle-piece icon, then Form Options Sync, then Check setup. A box opens with one line per item, each marked OK or FAIL. It works even when the sidebar does not.
- The name of the question, and what you expected to happen.
- The exact text of any message in the sidebar, or a screenshot of the sidebar.
- When it happened, with your time zone.
- For a billing question: the Google account email you use with the add-on.
We never need your Google password or a sign-in code. If anyone claiming to be us asks for one, it is not us.

The sidebar shows PERMISSION_DENIED
Several Google accounts are signed in to your browser, and Google ran the sidebar as the default one instead of the form owner's. Open the form in a window where only the form owner's account is signed in, such as a private window or a separate Chrome profile. The menu items, including Check setup, still work.
"Google Sheets refused access"
The Google account that set up the sync cannot open the spreadsheet. Open the sheet with that account and check that it is shared with it, and that you allowed the add-on's Sheets permission.
"Google allows 20 triggers per account"
Each form with automatic syncing uses one or two of the 20 triggers Google gives your account. Remove the syncs from forms you no longer use, then change a setting under When to sync in this form so it tries again.
An option's name changed on its own
" (N left)" and " (FULL)" at the end of an option are added and removed by the add-on. It also strips them from names in your sheet, so do not end your own option names with them.
A full option is still on the form
Check that After every response is ticked and that seat limits are on for that question. If you deleted responses, click Recount responses. The question's card shows the last error, if there was one.
Two people got the last seat
This can happen when two people submit at the same moment, because Google Forms cannot hold a seat. The add-on emails you when it happens. Contact the extra respondents. See the one limit.
I upgraded but the sidebar still says Free plan
Click Already upgraded? in the sidebar. The licence is matched to the email address shown there. If it is a different account from the one you upgraded, email us.
"Form Options Sync needs permission to run"
One of the permissions was unticked when you allowed the add-on. Click Grant permissions, allow all of them, and open the add-on again.
Known limits
Better to read these here than to find them out yourself.
Each follows from how Google Forms and Google Apps Script work. None of them can be switched off.
The add-on counts a response after Google saves it and then updates the form, in our tests within about 20 seconds. Two people who submit in that time can both get the last seat. The add-on tells you when it happens; it cannot stop it.
Dropdown, multiple choice and checkboxes. Grid questions are not supported yet.
If you rename an option, responses under the old name no longer count towards it.
Per question. Longer lists are cut, and the sidebar says so.

A sync that reads a sheet runs only from the account that set it up.
Stopping, cancelling, deleting
How to leave, cleanly.
Stop syncing a form
In the sidebar, click Remove on each synced question and keep Put the plain options back ticked. The question gets its plain options back, and removing the last sync in a form also removes its automatic syncing.
Uninstall the add-on
Remove your syncs first, as above. Then open the Google Workspace Marketplace from the puzzle-piece icon in Google Forms, find Form Options Sync and uninstall it. To remove its access to your account, go to myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Cancel Pro
Use the cancel link in your receipt email from the payment provider, or email us. Pro stays on until the end of the period you paid for. Uninstalling does not cancel a subscription. Your first purchase can be refunded within 14 days; see the terms.
Delete your data
Settings and counts are stored with your form, inside Google. Removing a sync deletes its counts, and deleting the form removes the rest. For the licence records on our server, email us from the Google account concerned and we will delete them within 30 days. Details in the privacy policy.
